Moulding
After mixing, it should be
placed in the mould before 30 minutes.
So, six moulds were used at
a time to make the process very fast. In this project, the bricks were moulded
manually by hand ie., hand moulding. And these bricks were ground moulded
bricks. The following are the steps involved in moulding,
o A ground was selected, which
was nearer to the mixing place and having smooth surface.
o Then, the ground was made
into uniform level and fine sand was sprinkled over it.
o After that, the crude oil
was applied in the inside surface of the mould for fibrous concrete bricks and
water was applied for padobe bricks.
o Now the mould was placed
over the ground.
o The lump of mix was taken
and it was placed in the mould.
o Then the mix was pressed or
forced in such a way that it fills all the corner of the mould.
o The extra or surplus mix was
removed either by wooden strike or the metal strike or frame with wire.
o The mould was lifted and the
raw brick was left on the ground.
o Then, the mix number of the
brick was marked on the top.
o After that, the fine sand
was sprinkled over the bricks to avoid the voids and to make the surface
smooth.
o Then, the next brick was
prepared nearer to the older brick continuously.
o Ten bricks were casted for
every proportion.
